Overview
As the Senior MarTech Engineer at Texas Capital Bank, I oversaw our team’s effort to assist Marketing in completely refreshing the baskbank.com website. Completely updating a website is always difficult but updating a live site, all pages at once, and on a deadline made this project very difficult.
Managing the Development of New Features
For this update, my team had to develop various new features for the content and marketing teams to use. These included simple updates to current tools, creating new tools for new site experiences, and developing entirely new site features for previously non-existent elements.
To begin, I worked with our marketing team to review planned designs and determine what items needed to be developed. I then worked with our Technical Product Owner and Business Analyst to turn all of these items into stories and define a plan for working these stories over 2-3 months. As we assigned these stories, I worked with our TPO to determine which dev took what tasks, ensuring that each story matched the skill set of each dev while ensuring each dev had tasks that could be somewhat challenging to them.
From there, we began developing within the Drupal CMS that the site uses. Specifically we either updated an existing web component (a section of the web page), created an all new component, or built a custom module to introduce entirely new elements to the site.
Once all was done, we released these updates and worked with our Content team to update site pages to match designs and launch the new site.
ADA/Accessibility Compliance
Using a 3rd party vendor, we were able to identify all of the ADA issues on the site. Upon completing the required site updates, we were able to review all of these issues and turn them into specific stories to update the site. Once again, we planned out the completion of all of these stories and then assigned them out to developers for completion over the next month.
